Any shortfalls in driver performance or\nregular discrepancies were addressed with off-site training, field\naccompaniment or on- the-job coaching. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Driver met all aspects of the required\ndress code \u2028<\/li><li>Driver checked through all available\npaperwork before departure \u2028<\/li><li>Driver properly loaded vehicle with\nappropriate loads\/consignments \u2028<\/li><li>Driver ensured vehicle was highway\nready, including fuel, maps, etc. \u2028<\/li><li>Driver choose appropriate journey plan \u2028<\/li><li>Driver filled out name and departure\ntime on the delivery schedule \u2028<\/li><li>Driver used proper driving techniques\nand did not speed. \u2028<\/li><li>Driver used maps and\/or written\ndirections to assist in finding locations \u2028<\/li><li>Driver arrived on time as scheduled or\ncalled if running late \u2028<\/li><li>Driver was careful to unload in safety\nusing proper lifting methods \u2028<\/li><li>Driver recorded all required information\nonto the delivery ticket \u2028<\/li><li>Driver obtained a GRN and logged any\nreturns \u2028<\/li><li>Driver properly secured returns in the\ndelivery vehicle \u2028<\/li><li>Driver filled out name and return time\non the delivery schedule \u2028<\/li><li>Driver removed all returned items from\nthe vehicle \u2028<\/li><li>Driver re-scheduled undone deliveries \u2028<\/li><li>Paperwork was double checked for\naccuracy &#8211; GRNs were turned in to the appropriate person \u2028<\/li><li>Driver cleaned and serviced the delivery\nvehicle after completion of the route <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">Despite these measures the UK driver\nturnover year-on-year averaged 62%, rising to <strong>75%<\/strong> in two regions (South West &amp; London). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Big\n5 Assessments was implemented at an early stage before CV sift and focused\nprimarily on: <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Job-related behavioural traits <strong>(personality)<\/strong> <ul><li>Propensity to engage in\ncounter-productive work behaviours <strong>(attitude)\n<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Basic non-driver skills <strong>(literacy &amp; maths)<\/strong> <\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Essential\nwork-related prerequisites<\/strong>\n(licence, location, driving history, etc) <\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">Only those applicants scoring an 80%\nmatch (or greater) were taken through to BM interview using standardised\ninterview questions for behavioural and attitudinal validation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">BMs were advised that a combination of\nboth the \u2018Driver\u2019 &amp; \u2018Customer Service\u2019 benchmarks were the most appropriate\nsince they incorporated the following competencies: \u201c<em>Positions involving\noperation of a van or truck for route driving to deliver and\/or pick up goods,\nto plan drop routes and requirements by studying schedules + Positions that\nentail basic support and direct interaction with customers either by phone or face\nto face\u201d. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">The successful driver candidates were\nthen assessed daily by their Supervisors against the existing company\u2013wide\ndriver performance competencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">Within weeks it was found that their\nability to perform the tasks to the required level of competence <strong>increased significantly<\/strong> (up to 90%\nscores were recorded in the first few weeks later rising to 95% or 100% in many\ncases).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">Within 6 months of JobSift\nimplementation, the driver turnover had <strong>fallen\nto 42% and continued to fall to a base of 21% overall within 12 months. <\/strong>[For legal reasons we are unable to\nreport on integrity and conscientiousness factors but the incidence of\ndriver-related \u2018disciplinary\u2019 issues reduced substantially during the same\nperiod.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\"><strong>To find out more visit <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.big5assessments.com\"><strong>www.big5assessments.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>, email \u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:info@big5assessments.com\"><strong>info@big5assessments.com<\/strong><\/a> <strong>or call <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.big5assessments.com\/ContactUs\/Hello.html\"><strong>+44(0)1865 784 290<\/strong><\/a><strong> to have a chat with us to see how we can help.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How were they recruiting?
