What is Quality of Hire?

Quality of hire is a key part of talent acquisition and should be considered when evaluating the recruitment process. This blog post will discuss what is meant by ‘quality of hire’ and how this can impact upon your company.

Definition

Quality of hire is defined as the value a new hire adds to your company. Or, more specifically, the impact a new hire has on the future success of a company. Obviously, a key aim of the recruitment process is to hire a candidate who will benefit the company. This benefit is referred to as the quality of hire.

What Does This Mean for My Company?

You might have heard the term quality of hire more and more over the past few years. It is no longer just a ‘buzzword’, but it is considered a non-negotiable part of the recruitment process. For many companies recruitment is one of the main expenses and as such, recruitment must be as seamless as possible. It must also provide the company with the right hire at the end. This is where quality of hire comes into the equation.

In order to find a quality hire, the recruitment process must be conducive to this. No longer are resumes and interviews the best way to find potential employees. With 78% of resumes containing misleading information and 46% containing lies, companies have had to find another way to ensure quality of hire. Psychometric testing, such as offered by Big5Assessments, provide information into candidate personality and potential. As such, companies are afforded the opportunity to future proof their company by hiring candidates for their future potential, rather than just their ability to do one job. This is the epitome of quality of hire.

Summary

Quality of hire is not something that companies should be shying away from. Ensuring that their recruitment processes provide them with high quality hires should be a key priority if a company is going to continue to be successful in the future.
